Recognizing this challenge, Better Hope Community Development TVET Center, with the support of the Global Initiative for Resilience and Development and GIZ Somalia, has launched a transformative initiative—specialized training in henna art for young women.
Reviving Tradition, Unlocking Opportunity
Henna art, a cherished cultural tradition, is finding renewed purpose as a tool for economic empowerment. Through this training, young women are not only learning to master intricate traditional and modern designs but are also acquiring a marketable skill that can serve as a source of income. Whether for weddings, Eid celebrations, or other social events, the demand for skilled henna artists continues to grow.

What makes this initiative truly impactful is its emphasis on sustainability and self-reliance. The program is designed not just to teach a skill but to open doors. Many of the participants have started offering henna services within their neighborhoods, earning income and contributing to their households.
